First Annual 1v1 Coffee Pot Challege

The games for the first annual COFFEE POT CHALLENGE have just been set. Tensions are high. Frazee starts with a bye, leaving six to battle it out among themselves. And the matches are (drumroll please)....

GAME 1: Caroline vs. Chili
GAME 2: Catherine vs. Courtney
GAME 3: Llama vs. Lau

To our competitors I say good luck and play fair and don't forget to have some fun. Join us later this week for updates. NOTE: These matches were drawn out of a Wellesley College hat and are thus completely fair. Continuity in the first letters of the names was completely unintentional.

Check in later for a posting of the rules. Competitors are encouraged to set up the games themselves and then post on the conference so that any fans may attend. Once again, good luck.

THE COFFEE POT CHALLENGE
Advancing in each round requires the competitor to win at least two out of three games (ten minutes each). These terms unfortunately regulate that the one who doesn't win the two out of the three will not move on. For these select few there will be a "those who did not advance but are not losers" bracket. This bracket will be played in chubby bird form.

RULES
1. Games shall last ten minutes (exhaustion mandatory).
2. In case of a tie, competitors shall move to "next goal wins" play in which the next goal...wins.
3. Goals shall be marked out on the raquetball wall and shall be one yard across and two feet high.
4. To begin plat the all shall be passed in.
5. Goals may only be scored from the unmarked halfway line (good luck).
6. If both are in agreement, competitors may choose to take a break five minutes in for each of the three games.
7. Walls shall be in play, but goals shall not count should they go in directly off the wall.
8. After a competitor has scored, she must pass the ball in to her opponent.
9. There shall be no goalkeeping and no defending beyond the opponent's own side of the court.

POINT SYSTEM
*win=3pts.
*sudden death victory= 2pts.

Now, a friendly note of warning: follow the rules and nobody gets hurt. Break the rules and a girl in a gold bodysuit will dance at you. Take heed.
Once again, may the best woman win. Play ball!

JUST IN!
(Ok, just in last week. But hey: it's still fresh!)

The cycle of our game has changed a bit. Rather than exercising such a politically incorrect way of executing our tournament (for, as an optimist might argue, "there are no losers in life"), we shall instead continue on in a round robin format. In this manner each contestant will get a chance to play each of the other opponents. A plethora of opportunity, I would say, leaving no stone unturned.
After the chaos comes to it's peak, we shall begin single elimination playoffs. The lucky two in first and second will secure a bye to the semi final while the third and sixth and the fourth and fifth battle it out for the remaining openings.

This being said, we shall now move on to the long anticipated update. Ready? I thought so. Our points stand as such:
Caroline: 0 pts.
Catherine: 3 pts.
Chili: 3 pts.
Courtney: 0 pts.
Frizz: bye
Lau: 3 pts.
Llama: 0 pts.

[Note: Anyone confused should get their wits back about them and refer to the previous post in which the rules and point system were outlined.]

Now! The next moment of anticipation draws near. What, you ask, will the matchups be for next time? The draw has been left up to Fate. Let us see what she has to say...
First up... Chili and Lau!
Next... Courtney and Llama!
And finally... Caroline and Frizz!

This of course means that our Fate has deemed fit to give our beloved Catherine a bye for this week. God luck ladies. Long live the spirit of good healthy competition!

[On Final Note: Yes, a conspicuous post has appeared in which only the words, "THE COFFEE POT CHALLENGE" appears. We implore that you ignore this minor mishap in understanding of your writer's technical failings.]

[One Final Final Note: How exciting! A second prize has appeared as well! Are you ready? The finalist who does not win the coffee pot will instead receive: A FRENCH PRESS! Now, I realize that one with certain cultural leanings might hope for this prize over the coffee pot, but I would encourage her to set her sights on the ultimate prize in the spirit of competition.]

Updates will appear once again at the end of the week. Good luck to all!
